Join Pellicle at the International Brewing and Cider Festival, Manchester

Beer Festival season is upon us once again, and one of the biggest and most exciting of them all is taking place in our home city of Manchester this March!

Founded in 1886, The International Brewing and Cider Awards, dubbed as “the Oscars of the beer and cider world” are considered to be among the most prestigious within their respective industries. Previously held in the historic brewing city of Burton upon Trent, this year the event has relocated to Manchester to surround itself with the exciting, eclectic beer and pub culture our city is renowned for.

In addition to the awards, this year a beer festival will run alongside it for the first time, so that people can come along and taste the award winners for themselves. It’s going to be held at Depot Mayfield, one of Manchester’s premier party venues, and will feature live music and street food in addition to all of the breweries pouring their beer.

The festival will take place over four sessions* on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd of March, with two per day running from 11am – 4pm and 6pm – 11pm respectively. Tickets are available now and we’ve partnered with the event to offer our readers a 10% discount with the code PELLICLE10.

What capacity will we be there in, I hear you asking? Well, wonder no longer… It might not have escaped your attention that our diligent editor in chief, Matthew (that’s me) wrote a book called Manchester’s Best Beer Pubs and Bars, which was published by CAMRA Books last October. Matthew will be on hand at both of the 11 – 4pm sessions to chat about all things Pellicle, the Manchester beer scene, and will have signed copies of the book available for purchase directly from the author while stocks last!

Whether you’re a Manchester resident, or just visiting for the festival itself, this is the perfect opportunity to ask someone who’s visited over 200 of the city’s pubs, bars and taprooms over the past 18 months where they should be going for their post-session pint. Look for the banner advertising the book (pictured above) where Matthew will be on hand to chat beer. Don’t forget to use our discount code when booking in.

*The 11am – 4pm session on Friday 22nd March is trade only, with all other sessions open to the general public.
